Life as a walk, not a sprint
Moving forward is important, but to keep on mivng at all is more important.
Suffering comes from choosing it, as a punishment to ourselves that we are not who we want to be, and that we do not live like we want to live.
It’s important to use this as fuel for getting closer to our objectives. But it’s also important not to be in unbearable pain all the time. Switching between these two is essential.
Let yourself suffer enough to have the friction to grow. But also, be kind enough with yourself to be able to move forward at all, and enjoy life.
Life is good. Yes, it could be better, but it’s not horrible. Act accordingly. If you have health, family, friends, and a life, what is there to worry about?
As long as we have these, we can start over, and go from being no one, to anyone.
I’ve been victim to this. Not allowing yourself any enjoyment until you “make it” is no good.
Yes, you will work harder for some time, but at some point, the misery will become so grand that it will undermine the hard work that preaches against it.
Then, we will have made sure to both not enjoy the ride, and never make it.
We have to make room for enjoyment and some indulgence along the path, for, even though it might slow us down a little momentarily, by allowing us to stay happy and motivated, it assures that we will stay on-track for longer, if not forever.
If we try to go too fast, we will crash. We have to move forward, but do so on average. Moving back a bit every now and then will assure the continuity of our work, and, as long as we work hard enough the rest of the time, we’ll still be moving forward as a whole.
Life is more of a walk, with sprints here and there, than a marathon.
So, remember, not only move forward, but enjoy the ride. After all, is winning any good, if we destroy ourselves in the process?
See you next post!
